Rab Island

Due to its position at the foothills of Velebit and the Kamenjak hill, the island of Rab is protected from cold and stormy winds.

The appearance of Kamenjak as seen from Velebit channel and the Adriatic highway on the facing side can be deceiving, but it is a real boon for the island - in winter it protects it from cold and stormy Bura winds, and is generally responsible for the mild climate on the island.

Thanks to the lush vegetation, mostly because of its sunny and indented coast, blue clear sea, seductive natural beauty and millennial culture, the island of Rab has always offered something special to its visitors.

The island got its name because of its forest cover. The ancient names Arva, Arba, Arbia or Arbitana, in Italian Arbe and Croatian Rab, come from the Illyrian Arb, which means dark, green, wooded.

One of the most beautiful and woodland areas is Suha Punta and Cape Kalifront. In contrast, the northeastern part of the island of Rab, the one facing the mainland and Velebit, is rugged, completely bare and looks like a landscape from the moon.

The weather on Rab is very pleasant: warm summers alternate with mild winters in a special kind of Mediterranean climate.

With approximately 2600 hours of sunshine a year (which is only 9 cloudy days during the summer), Rab is the perfect place to relax.

The most important fact is that Rab is an island with plenty of water. So please drink it instead of buying it in plastic bottles. This will help us preserve the environment we live in, which you love to visit.
